🌙 Understanding Islamic Giving

🤲
What is Sadaqah?

Sadaqah is voluntary charity given freely out of generosity, love, or faith. Unlike Zakat, there is no minimum amount or specific conditions — any act of kindness given sincerely for Allah is Sadaqah. The Prophet ﷺ said even a smile is Sadaqah.

🌱
Sadaqah Jariyah

Sadaqah Jariyah is ongoing charity that continues to reward you even after death. Building a well, funding education, planting a tree, or constructing a masjid are prime examples. It is one of only three deeds whose rewards never stop.

What is Zakat?

Zakat is the obligatory annual almsgiving — the Third Pillar of Islam. Muslims possessing wealth above the nisab threshold for a full lunar year must give 2.5% of net savings to eligible recipients. Zakat purifies wealth and redistributes it.

📋

Why These Causes Matter

🕌 Mosque Donation: Contributing to a masjid is among the highest forms of Sadaqah Jariyah. Every prayer offered within earns the donor continuous reward for as long as the mosque stands.
💛 Orphan Support: "I and the one who sponsors an orphan will be in Paradise like these two" — Prophet ﷺ (Bukhari). Caring for orphans carries an extraordinary promise from Allah.
💧 Water Projects: Clean water is one of the best Sadaqah Jariyah investments. Every creature that drinks from a well you funded earns you ongoing reward — even after your death.
📚 Education Support: Knowledge that benefits others is one of the three deeds that continue after death. Funding education plants seeds of wisdom that outlast generations.
🏥 Medical Assistance: Helping the sick is mercy in action. Funding care for those who cannot afford treatment is a beautiful expression of the Islamic value of rahmah (compassion).
